Polish curator Sebastian Cichocki to lead EVA International 2023

Sebastian Cichocki has been appointed as the curator for EVA International, Ireland’s biennial art exhibition happening in Limerick this August 2023. Celebrating its 40th edition, the event will focus on environmental concerns and the ongoing climate crisis. Cichocki highlighted the urgency of the situation, mentioning issues like fossil fuel conflicts, mass relocation, and a decline in biodiversity, stressing the need for hope. He envisions EVA as a space for artists and thinkers to explore new ways of living and working together. Cichocki has a history of curating significant exhibitions, including Poland's pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2007 and 2011, and he recently worked on projects addressing women's rights and the impact of climate change. The first EVA was held in 1977, and this year’s exhibition aims to challenge traditional approaches.
