PoliLam Unveils Translucent HPL Surfaces with Light-Diffusing Edges

architecture-design · 2026-04-19

The US brand PoliLam has introduced a new collection of translucent high-pressure laminate surfaces called Seamless HPL Translucent Surfaces. These surfaces feature clear edges that match the surface color, a departure from conventional laminates with dark edges. Light can pass through both the planes and the edges of the material, creating an even diffusion when backlit. The collection offers nine different surface patterns, including solid colors and hyperrealistic wood grain and stone styles. Two neutral core options, Ivory and Wheat, are available to create a borderless effect for interior applications. PoliLam intends the material for use in lightboxes, illuminated partitions, wall panels, and installations. The product is noted for its durability and resistance to impact, heat, water, and wear, making it suitable for residential, commercial, retail, and hospitality interiors. The surfaces are made from paper and resin. The product was featured in the Dezeen Showroom, a platform for brands to launch new products.
