PolarPro Split 50 Filter Creates Split-Focus Effect for Photographers and Filmmakers

other · 2026-05-13

PolarPro has introduced the Split 50, a unique split diopter filter that leaves one half of the glass clear to achieve a split-focus effect. Featuring a +2 diopter on one side, this filter enables two subjects at varying distances to be in sharp focus at the same time. This technique, made famous by films such as Citizen Kane, All the President's Men, Reservoir Dogs, and The Untouchables, is now offered in a compact circular format for both photographers and filmmakers. Ideal for use between f/1.2 and f/4, the filter is rotatable and crafted from Cinema Series optical glass with scratch-resistant, anti-reflective, and low-dispersion coatings, all housed in CNC-machined aluminum. It can be pre-ordered in sizes of 49mm, 67mm, 77mm, and 82mm, including a Helix MagLock version, starting at $80.
