Poesis Studio's Villa Caeruleum: A Cornerless Ellipse on Albania's Ionian Coast

architecture-design · 2026-07-31

Poesis Studio, located in both London and Tirana, has introduced Villa Caeruleum, a conceptual villa that has yet to be realized, perched on a hillside overlooking Porto Palermo along Albania's Ionian coast. The innovative design features a seamless elliptical shape, avoiding corners and conventional walls. Nestled low in the hillside, the villa offers stunning views of the Ionian Sea and a meandering bay. A narrow blue passageway leads to a sightline that unveils the main elliptical wall, fostering cozy outdoor courtyards. Beneath the surface, a sunken circular lounge illuminated by a skylight serves as the sole source of natural light. Rendered by Gracielo Mielli, this project aligns with other conceptual villas along Albania's coast, showcasing a minimalist material palette and flowing curved walls.
