Plume Ribout Martini's Artistic Practice Transforms Everyday Objects Through Simplification

Plume Ribout Martini creates work focused on the subsidiary places and objects of daily life. She reproduces them, either wholly or partially, through a process of simplification. This artistic approach displaces these elements to the edge of identification, unlocking their capacity for reminiscence and evocation. Specific inspirations include the patterned tiling of public restroom walls and a ventilation grille, which have spawned multiple variations utilizing photocopying and glasswork techniques. The artist's goal is to produce 'rapid images' of these sites and items that resemble mental pictures. Born in 1991, she lives in Saint-Ouen and maintains a studio in Bagnolet. Her education includes a 2015 graduation from EESAB in Brest and a 2018 degree from ESADSE in Saint-Étienne. Her solo exhibition 'A vrille' was presented in 2019 at Espace Marguerite Charlie in Saint-Denis. Group exhibitions include the 2020 'Jeune Création' at the Fondation Fiminco in Romainville, the 2019 'Chantier sud' in Vanves, and the 2018 'Jardin Hiver' at 91aupremieretage in Paris.
