Plenitude's charging stations become public art with three Italian artists

other · 2026-04-26

Plenitude, through its subsidiary Be Charge, has launched The Art in Motion Museum, a public art project transforming electric vehicle charging stations into artworks across thirteen Italian municipalities. Three Italian artists—Alberto Casagrande, Jonathan Calugi, and Ray Oranges—created fifteen works inspired by the concept 'Energia in movimento' (Energy in motion) to promote electric mobility. The stations are placed in representative locations such as cities, villages, mountain towns, and seaside resorts, designed to harmonize with their surroundings. In an interview, Casagrande explained his approach: he explored energy's manifestations in nature and within himself as passion and creativity, using a dynamic visual language with abstract forms and a 'tension dinamica' (dynamic tension) to suggest movement. He selected five colors—mostly primary, unnatural hues at opposite ends of the spectrum—harmonized with white to enhance chromatic dynamism and bring forms to life. Casagrande recently began using subtle, irregular lines to add structure and spontaneity. He believes art can inspire and slow people down, and hopes the project encourages better use of energy. For him, public art must engage in dialogue with viewers and context, avoiding mere decoration. He sees art as a lens on the future, capable of inspiring ideas and issuing warnings, but requiring attentive eyes and ears.
