Playlab Opens at Milan's Museo della Scienza e Tecnologia

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Playlab, a new 400-square-meter interactive space for children aged 3 to 6, has opened at the Museo della Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo Da Vinci in Milan. Inaugurated on November 30, 2024, the area is divided into five thematic rooms—including an Atelier for guided workshops—where children can play, invent, imagine, and tell stories through artistic installations, exploration, and construction activities. The space emphasizes free exploration, allowing children to touch, experiment, and interact with historical objects and unstructured materials, blending analog and digital experiences. Access is included with the museum ticket, but shoes must be removed for hygiene and safety; children must be accompanied by an adult. Maria Xanthoudaki, the museum's Education Director, described Playlab as the result of advanced pedagogical reflection, aiming to make museums a place of belonging and foster a positive relationship with science from an early age. The Atelier's program runs until January 12, 2025, for individual visitors and schools.
