Playfair House: A Beachside Home for Adventurers in Australia
Completed in 2024, Playfair House is a residential project by 43 North Architecture, located near a beach in Australia. Designed for clients who are former Australian MTB champions and outdoor enthusiasts, the house is tailored to their adventurous spirit and personality. The clients sold their suburban 5-bedroom home and purchased an empty plot, intending to create a dwelling that stands out from neighboring houses, with a design that could even suit a tent lifestyle. The project was delivered on a strict budget to enable future adventures. The contractor was mjk builders (MJK Building). Photographs were taken by Simon Whitebread, and the project was curated by Miwa Negoro. The architects emphasize that architecture should speak visually and be customized to the client's character, not just their brief.
