Playboy releases limited edition for Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday
German Playboy has released a limited edition of 100 pop-art works by Michael Möbius to mark Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday. Möbius is known for photorealistic portraits featuring subjects blowing bubblegum bubbles. Playboy founder Hugh Hefner admired Möbius's Marilyn with Bubblegum so much that it hung in his private gallery for years. Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, appeared on the cover and centerfold of Playboy's first issue in 1953. Meanwhile, Schirmer/Mosel Verlag has published 'Dear Marilyn,' a collection of previously unpublished photos and letters by Sam Shaw, the photographer who captured Monroe's iconic flying skirt scene from 'The Seven Year Itch.'
