PLATZ: new shared artist studio opens in Milan

artist · 2026-04-26

On June 13, 2024, PLATZ, a shared live-work space for artists, opened at Via degli Scipioni 7 in Milan, between Porta Venezia and Città Studi. Founded by artists Stefano Ferrari (born 1996, Ferno), Giorgio Mattia (born 1997, Frosinone), and Matteo Vettorello (born 1986, Venice), the space aims to host both the founders and invited artists for collaboration and experimentation. The inaugural event featured artist Marzio Zorio (born 1985, Moncalieri) with his participatory installation Bosco and a live set by pianist and composer Francesca Bruna, together as Bruma, blending techno, industrial, and ambient sounds. Ferrari's multidisciplinary practice includes sculptures and installations that create listening spaces, exhibited at Palazzo Martinengo in Brescia, SpreadMuseum in Entraveaux, and the University of Agronomy and Botany in Piacenza. Mattia's work examines the political function of archives, recently shown at Galleria San Fedele, Triennale di Milano, and Palazzo Monti in Brescia. Vettorello, fresh from the Malta Biennale and a show at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Madrid, creates interactive sculptures with biometric systems that quantify unmeasurable emotions. The artists intend to engage the building's common courtyard for a gentle reappropriation of private space.
