Plastic Jesus cages Trump's Walk of Fame star in protest

other · 2026-05-04

Street artist Plastic Jesus has enclosed Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a miniature jail cell, titled 'Trump December 2020.' The installation, quickly dismantled by authorities, drew thousands of tourists who photographed and shared it on social media. Plastic Jesus stated via ArtNet News that artists can convey opinions universally and that art encourages dialogue. He expressed hope that the Mueller investigation would find a verifiable crime to imprison Trump, noting that being a racist, bigot, and liar is not enough. Trump received his star in 2007 for his role in the reality show 'The Apprentice.' This is not the first attack on the star: Plastic Jesus previously built a wall around it in 2016 protesting border barriers, and in 2018 Austin Clay smashed it with a pickaxe. The star has also been covered in graffiti. West Hollywood mayor John Duran has called for its permanent removal. Plastic Jesus, known for pop culture and political installations, also created a golden statue of Harvey Weinstein with Joshua 'Ginger' Monroe to critique Hollywood hypocrisy.
