Plastic Club's 40th Anniversary Celebrated with Niccolò Quaresima Exhibition at FuturDome
Milan's legendary Plastic nightclub, which opened on December 23, 1980, is marking its 40th anniversary with a solo exhibition by Niccolò Quaresima at FuturDome. Titled "Dusk to Dawn, Fragments from the Plastic Archive," the show features found slides from the club's basement, decomposed and torn, alongside documents, images, and videos from the archive of co-founder Nicola Guiducci. Plastic was founded by Lucio Nisi, his brother Lino, and DJ Nicola Guiducci, bringing post-punk music and New York's gay-friendly club culture to Italy. The club hosted international stars like Keith Haring, Freddie Mercury, Madonna, and Andy Warhol. Sergio Tavelli, who has worked at Plastic since the mid-1990s and created the Saturday night party Club Domani in 2017, described the club as a black parallelepiped with sawdust on the floor, focusing on music and community. The exhibition was postponed due to the pandemic.
