Plaisirs de Culture returns to Aosta Valley for 11th edition
The 11th edition of Plaisirs de Culture, a cultural festival centered on the historical and artistic heritage of the Aosta Valley, will take place from September 16 to 24, 2023, coinciding with the European Heritage Days. The theme is "Living Heritage." Events are spread across Aosta and neighboring towns, offering access to little-known sites such as castles, churches, ancient mines, and even construction sites. Activities include writing workshops at Castello di Issogne, natural remedy creation in Jovençan, hemp weaving in Champorcher, wooden instrument building for children at Fénis, clay modeling at Castello di Sarriod de la Tour, guided bike tours, artisan itineraries in Saint-Christophe, radio amateur meetups in Avise, and stargazing at Saint-Barthélemy, home to Italy's first Starlight Stellar Park. Thematic walks explore Nus's 15th-century artisan area, Aymavilles's monuments (Cripta di Saint-Léger, Castello di Introd, Châtel-Argent, church of Villeneuve), Cogne's highest mines in Europe, Champdepraz's mineral transport routes (chalcopyrite and iron), and Saint-Marcel's mining history through theater and concerts.
