Pixelatura: A Pixel Font with Classic Serif Bones by Angin Studio

publication · 2026-05-17

Pixelatura is a pixel font display typeface created by David Novrian and Ahmad Aswin of Angin Studio in Jakarta. It grafts retro digital 1990s MS Paint aesthetics onto classic serif architecture, keeping both visible. The alphabet specimen shows stair-stepped curves where a normal serif would have smooth arcs, with hairline serifs rendered as single-pixel brackets. The designers preserved the MS Paint logic rather than smoothing it, making the grid actual architecture. Specimen images include a Windows 95-style composition with pixel-art desktop icons and 1996 numerals at near-full-bleed scale. A Human Generate poster demonstrates the font's viability for contemporary brand work without the retro reference becoming a costume. The project is showcased on Behance.
