Pivô's Research Program Hosts 145 Artists from 20 Countries in São Paulo's Copan Building

Pivô, situated in the Copan building of São Paulo, hosts the Pivô Pesquisa residency program aimed at emerging artists from Brazil and abroad, providing tailored stays of three to four months for each participant. Since its inception nearly six years ago, the program has welcomed 145 artists from 20 nations, encouraging collaboration among artists and engagement with critics and the public. Partnerships with organizations such as the CPPC (Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros), British Council, Matadero Madrid, Centro Cultural São Paulo, and ArtRio enhance its offerings. In its inaugural residency in 2018, 13 artists, including Fernanda Feher, participated. Feher, originally from São Paulo and now based in Portugal, presented her project 'As mulheres de lá,' which addresses female genital mutilation in Africa, involving interviews and paintings of women in Tanzania and Kenya, with proceeds aiding the London-based organization Orchid. She studied painting for ten years at the PRATT Institute in Brooklyn, New York, merging her artistic and activist pursuits to highlight women's narratives beyond mere victimhood.
