Piuarch to Transform Abandoned Barracks into Culture Hub in Venaria Reale
A 7 million euro fund has been allocated to create a Culture Hub in Venaria Reale, near Turin, as part of the broader urban regeneration project 'Tra Urbano e Periurbano' financed by the PNRR. The architectural firm Piuarch will redevelop an abandoned barracks into a cultural center, emphasizing biophilic design with 'green rooms' connecting different city zones. The project includes a museum of local history, an archive, coworking spaces, a 260-seat auditorium, and a civic school. Materials will be predominantly wood, with photovoltaic panels and brise-soleil for energy efficiency. The design uses digital prefabrication. Completion timeline is yet to be defined.
