Piuarch Marks 30 Years with Exhibition and Book at Milan Design Week 2026

exhibition · 2026-04-24

Milanese architecture studio Piuarch celebrated its 30th anniversary during the Milan Design Week 2026 with the temporary exhibition PIU30 at its Brera headquarters in Via Palermo 5. The show featured only models—from early study maquettes to advanced project iterations—avoiding chronological order and self-celebration, instead emphasizing the tangible dimension of architecture. A blue recyclable ribbon wound through the studio space, visible from outside. Concurrently, the volume 'Piuarch. Architetture scelte 2010-2026' was launched, part of the 'Progressive. Sezioni sull’architettura italiana' series by Forma Edizioni, curated by Maurizio Carones. The book and exhibition are separate initiatives covering distinct periods. Founded in 1996 by Francesco Fresa, Germán Fuenmayor, Gino Garbellini, and Monica Tricario, the studio now includes partners Mauro Mandelli, Luca Lazzerotti, Gianni Mollo, and Miguel Pallares. Current projects include the Snam headquarters in Milan’s Symbiosis district (completion this year), the Human Technopole HQ in MIND (tender closure by 2026, 1100-day construction), the Hub della Cultura in Venaria Reale (Torino), and a residential quarter in the UAE focused on pedestrian public space. The studio also contributed to the Manifattura Tabacchi redevelopment in Florence. Fresa emphasized the importance of community and the social role of architecture, while Pallares noted the complexity of biomedical research labs.
