Più libri più liberi returns to Rome's Nuvola for 20th edition

The 20th edition of Più libri più liberi, Italy's national small and medium publishing fair, will take place at the Nuvola di Fuksas in Rome from December 4 to 8, 2021. Organized by the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), this year's theme is 'Freedom.' Guests are asked to bring a significant book that helped them overcome barriers; these books will be donated to 17 juvenile justice and community institutes. Notable attendees include Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa, Guadalupe Nettel, Alessandro Baricco, Melania Mazzucco, Roberto Saviano, Michela Murgia, Zerocalcare, Silvia Ronchey, Vera Gheno, Riccardo Falcinelli, Michela Marzano, Francesco Piccolo, Donatella Di Pietrantonio, Stefano Bartezzaghi, and Paolo Di Paolo. Highlights include Ascanio Celestini reading from 'Museo Pasolini' in homage to Pier Paolo Pasolini's centenary, and a musical tribute to Rome's neighborhoods with Luca Barbarossa, Carl Brave, and Francesca Reggiani. The fair emphasizes children's publishing with exhibitions like 'La torta è troppo in alto!' and workshops such as 'Tra Scienza e arte.' A digital writing contest for students, 'Più libri junior,' invites compositions up to 5,000 characters on freedom. Edizioni La Biennale di Venezia participates for the first time, showcasing its publishing history. Talks cover early childhood reading, paper shortages, comics readership, and audiobooks.
