Pitti Fragranze 2024: multisensory installations explore scent and sound in Florence

Pitti Fragranze, the international salon of artistic perfumery, returns to Florence's Stazione Leopolda from September 13 to 15, 2024, with approximately 180 brands presenting new perfumes, skincare, and beauty products. Curators Paola Gariboldi and Susanna Macchia, returning for their second year, have developed the theme "The Sound of Fragrance" through multisensory installations that eliminate visual elements entirely, focusing solely on smell and hearing. The project features three musical tracks per theme—silence and noise—composed by Alessandro Maestro, with perfumers Sonia Constant and Cristiano Canali creating corresponding fragrances. Each perfumer selected a track that best matched their olfactory vision and collaborated with the composer to refine details. The silence fragrance aims to convey well-being and tranquility, while the noise fragrance seeks to infuse energy and strength, reflecting current trends in perfumery. The installation explores how musical language translates into olfactory experience, using shared terms like "notes" and "accords." Pitti Fragranze has become a key observatory for contemporary olfactory culture trends.
