Pitti Discovery and Uffizi Sign Three-Year Fashion Partnership

institutional · 2026-05-05

A new three-year partnership between Pitti Discovery and the Uffizi Galleries was signed at Palazzo Pitti, aiming to merge fashion and culture in Florence. The agreement, signed by Gaetano Marzotto (Pitti Immagine), Eike Schmidt (Uffizi), and Andrea Cavicchi (CFMI and Pitti Discovery), will establish a new Museo della Moda e del Costume in the same palace, replacing the existing Galleria del Costume with expanded storage and restoration efforts. The first event is the exhibition 'Karl Lagerfeld – Vision of fashion' (June 14–October 23, 2016). On June 13, 2016, during Pitti Immagine Uomo 90, the 'Palazzo Pitti: Lights and Sounds' event will debut a new LED facade lighting project, accompanied by a free concert by Giovanni Allevi and the 'Piano Twelve' ensemble in Piazza Pitti. The partnership aims to make Florence an open city for fashion and culture, echoing Milan's design scene.
