Pisa opens Italy's largest open-air urban art museum

Pisa has inaugurated Italy's largest open-air museum dedicated to urban art, spanning 4,000 square meters of painted surfaces across 25 works by 15 artists. The itinerary begins with a mural by Kobra near the historic center, steps from Keith Haring's Tuttomondo, and extends to the Darsena, including the pillars of the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway. It continues to recent murals by Etnik and Zed1 at the Deposito della Polizia Idraulica, and works by Moneyless, Etnik, Zed1, Aris, Gio Pistone, and Massimo Sospetto in the Porta a Mare district. The route also embraces Vecchiano, where Gio Pistone transformed a playground into an artwork. The project originated in 2017 with a mural by Gaia in Porta a Mare, curated by Gian Guido Grassi, who stated that the community embraced the project and rediscovered its identity through this diffuse museum. The museum was completed with murals by Etnik and Zed1 as part of the first edition of the Festival della Strada (October 2023–January 2024).
