Pirated copy of Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' briefly posted on X

A high-definition pirated copy of Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated film 'The Odyssey', released in theaters on July 16, was posted on X on Saturday, accumulating over 3 million views before being removed a few hours later. The identity of the account that shared the file has not been confirmed. Variety reported seeing the film posted after a user on X flagged the post at 2:25 PM ET (11:25 PM in Italy). The account was subsequently suspended. It is likely that the copy was downloaded by various users during the brief period it was available online. As is often the case with Nolan's films, 'The Odyssey' is achieving extraordinary box office numbers and mostly excellent critical reception, and is expected to remain in theaters for several more weeks. Elon Musk, owner of X, has not commented on the incident, though prior to the film's release he had repeatedly criticized Nolan for his casting choices, particularly the selection of Black actress Lupita Nyong'o for the roles of Helen and Clytemnestra, and stated he would produce a 'historically accurate' adaptation of 'The Odyssey' using Grok, his AI chatbot.
