Piranesi and Basilico's Rome in Dialogue at Palazzo Cini
Palazzo Cini in Venice hosts 'Piranesi Roma Basilico', an exhibition juxtaposing 18th-century etchings by Giambattista Piranesi with contemporary photographs by Gabriele Basilico, both depicting Rome. Curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, the show features 25 original prints from Fondazione Cini's collection and 26 photographs by Basilico, 12 of which are previously unpublished. The display explores urban vision and architecture's evolving role, contrasting the two artists' interpretations of the Eternal City. The exhibition runs until November 23 and is part of a series initiated in 2010 with 'Le Arti di Piranesi'. During the post-lockdown period, preview images were displayed on Venice's walls.
