PIPA Online Award Begins Voting with 56 Artists, Main Prize Finalists Announced
Voting for the PIPA Online Award commenced on July 26, featuring participation from 56 out of 67 artists. The recipient of the award will earn R$15,000 and is required to donate a piece to Instituto PIPA. Denilson Baniwa was the previous year's winner. Voting is open until August 2, and artists who gather over 500 votes will progress to the second round, taking place from August 16-23, with votes resetting between rounds. The main PIPA prize has announced four finalists: Gê Viana, Maxwell Alexandre, Randolpho Lamonier, and Renata Felinto, each awarded R$30,000. The selection process includes various jurors, such as Roberto Vinhaes and Lucrécia Vinhaes. The schedule for the main prize has been adjusted due to COVID-19, and the 2020 PIPA Exhibition was canceled. Since its inception in 2010, past winners have included Renata Lucas and Tatiana Blass.
