Pino Settanni's Tarot Photographs on View in Venice

Le Stanze della Fotografia in Venice is presenting 61 photographs by Pino Settanni (1949–2010), centered on tarot imagery. The exhibition includes 22 Major Arcana, 16 Minor Arcana figures, and previously unseen backstage photos featuring the artist. Known for blurring the line between painting and cinema, Settanni was a versatile photographer whose archive of over 60,000 images is now held by Archivio Luce Cinecittà. The show is organized by Archivio Luce Cinecittà in collaboration with Le Stanze della Fotografia, Fondazione Giorgio Cini, and Marsilio Arte. Settanni was renowned for portraits of Italian and international film stars, photojournalism in southern Italy and war zones like the Balkans and Afghanistan, and serial projects spanning the 1960s to the 2000s. His tarot prints reveal another facet of his practice, which moved between jet-set glamour and the lives of the vulnerable, always dissolving boundaries between arts, seriousness and play, reality and dream.
