Pino Pascali's Photography and Sculpture United in Venice Exhibition

A new exhibition in Venice, 'Pino Pascali – Dall’immagine alla forma' (From Image to Form), curated by Antonio Frugis and Roberto Lacarbonara, highlights the Italian artist's photographic practice alongside his sculptures. The show celebrates the Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali's acquisition of 166 photographs from Sandro Lodolo's archive at Lodolofilm studio in Rome. Pascali, born in Bari in 1935 and based in Rome, died prematurely in 1968. His work blends instinct and discipline, spanning Minimalism, Arte Povera, and happenings. The exhibition is organized thematically: 'Cose d’acqua', 'Il porto, le barche', 'Geometrie', 'Finte sculture', 'Ritorno alla terra', 'Giochi d’infanzia', and 'Il teatro, la maschera'. Key works include '9 mq di pozzanghere' and 'Contropelo', a 1968 acrylic bitta set against the Giudecca Canal. Pascali's early career included studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma under Toti Scialoja and work as a graphic designer at Lodolofilm, leading to theatrical and television projects, notably a Carosello for Cirio where he performed as Pulcinella and Pazzariello.
