Pinksummer opens pop-up exhibition in medieval Senarega castle

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Pinksummer, a gallery established in 2000 by Antonella Berruti and Francesca Pennone in Genoa, is organizing a temporary exhibition in Senarega, a medieval village located at the base of Antola Park in the Ligurian Apennines. Titled "Why Should Not We Enjoy an Original Relation to the Universe?"—a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson's Nature—the exhibition will take place in a 12th-century castle that once served as a toll station along the salt route. Opening at the end of July and concluding in early autumn, it will showcase works from eight artists associated with Pinksummer, including Peter Fend, Tomás Saraceno, and Bojan Šarčević. New pieces will be presented by Koo Jeong A, Luca Trevisani, and Luca Vitone, the latter featuring charcoal drawings from his Parco del Ponte project, which was developed for a competition won by Studio Boeri. The gallerists noted that Vitone's work reflects the ancient idea of sacred groves, recalling that prior to the 4th century AD, 30% of the Mediterranean was considered sacred forest. A calendar of events will accompany the exhibition.
