Pink Floyd releases new artistic video for 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of their landmark album Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd has released a new extended version of the track Shine On You Crazy Diamond, now presented as a single 25-minute piece. The track was originally recorded in 1975 as a two-part tribute to founding member Syd Barrett, who was ousted from the band in 1968 due to his deteriorating mental health linked to LSD use. The new version is included in the deluxe edition set for release on December 12. Accompanying the release is a new music video featuring actor and artist Noel Fielding, who finger-paints a portrait of Barrett throughout the clip. Fielding, also a comedian and musician who co-founded a band with a member of Kasabian, cites Barrett as a major influence on his stand-up comedy and writing style. The original album, recorded by Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, and sound engineer James Guthrie, remains a cornerstone of progressive rock.
