Pinacoteca Agnelli Unveils New Contemporary Direction Under Sarah Cosulich
The Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin has announced a major shift toward contemporary art under new director Sarah Cosulich. The institution, located on the roof of the former Lingotto Fiat factory, will now focus on producing original exhibitions and site-specific commissions by Italian and international artists. The new program begins May 27, 2022, with three initiatives: a dialogue between Picasso and Dora Maar featuring works from the Fondation Beyeler; a solo show for Swiss artist Sylvie Fleury; and the Pista 500 outdoor sculpture project. The permanent collection of 25 masterpieces from the 18th to 20th centuries, donated by Giovanni Agnelli and Marella Caracciolo in 2002, will be reinterpreted through new juxtapositions with loans from international institutions, with a special emphasis on female artists. The third floor will host temporary exhibitions, while the Pista 500—a former car test track turned rooftop garden—will display evolving semi-permanent installations by emerging and established artists. A new visual identity by Giga Design Studio features a lowercase 'a' in the logo, symbolizing accessibility and inclusivity. The museum celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
