Pinacoteca Agnelli installs new works on Pista 500 by Gonzalez-Torres, Shannon, Tiravanija
On May 2, 2024, the Pista 500 rooftop garden at the Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin unveiled three site-specific works by Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Finnegan Shannon, and Rirkrit Tiravanija. This 28-meter-high former FIAT test track, which boasts over 40,000 plants, has been showcasing artists since 2022. The initiative, in collaboration with EXPOSED, Torino Foto Festival, and the Salone del Libro, delves into public space and its social ramifications. Curated by Sarah Cosulich and Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, Gonzalez-Torres's piece from 1991 confronts HIV/AIDS and societal taboos. Shannon’s installation examines accessibility, while Tiravanija incorporates ping-pong tables to facilitate identity exploration. Additionally, the Pista 500 will host Sul tetto del Salone during the 36th Salone del Libro from May 9 to 13, 2024.
