Pimpa musical debuts at Verona's Teatro Romano
The first-ever musical dedicated to Pimpa, the iconic red-spotted dog created by Altan, premiered at Verona's Teatro Romano as part of the Estate Teatrale veronese. Directed by Enzo d'Alò and produced by Fondazione Aida with support from the Comune di Verona, 'Pimpa. Il Musical a pois' blends comic strips, theater, and musical genres into a hybrid contemporary performance. The show features flat comic-style sets by Luca Zanolli and Mariangela Mazzeo (also costume and puppet designer), with music by Eleonora Beddini sampling global sounds. The narrative incorporates digressions including William Shakespeare as the wolf in a Little Red Riding Hood tale, staying true to Altan's animated objects. Performers Gloria Zampogno, Jacopo Violi, Matteo Fresch, and Irene Albanese bring the characters to life. The production has already booked around 100 dates across Italy.
