Pimpa Activity Book Explores Pesaro, Italy's Culture Capital
A new activity book featuring the beloved Italian cartoon dog Pimpa guides children through the artistic and architectural treasures of Pesaro, the Italian Capital of Culture for 2024. Created by satirical cartoonist Altan in 1975 and later adapted into a TV series in 1982, Pimpa temporarily leaves her colorful world to explore landmarks like the Cathedral of San Terenzio, the Sonosfera (a unique mobile technological amphitheater for listening to ecosystems), and the Sfera grande sculpture by Arnaldo Pomodoro, a symbol of the city. The book also includes a visit to the Parco del Monte San Bartolo. Published by Franco Panini as part of the "Le guide di Pimpa" series, which already includes over twenty-six guides for cities like Trento, Verona, Ravenna, and Matera, the approximately thirty-page full-color volume features photographs and comics. It targets readers aged 6 to 8, combining real and fantastical elements with interactive games and activities. A special section is dedicated to composer Gioachino Rossini, depicted as a familiar-faced gourmand, with biographical facts. The guide is available in Italian and English, launching on October 11. Public events include a book presentation on October 13 at the Biblioteca Louis Braille and a workshop titled "Pimpa meets Rossini" on October 14 at the Museo Nazionale Rossini.
