Pilotta Museum Complex in Parma Undergoes Major Renovation
Renovations at the Complesso Monumentale della Pilotta in Parma, led by director Simone Verde, began in 2017 and are set to wrap up by the end of this year, culminating in an exhibition focused on the Farnese family. Significant upgrades include the restoration of the grand staircase, the establishment of a centralized ticket office, and separate entrances for various institutions. The National Gallery will unveil new exhibition spaces dedicated to Benedetto Antelami, alongside roof repairs and a reorganization of artworks. A dedicated entrance for researchers will be added at the Palatine Library, while the Museo Bodoniano is moving to a ground-floor gallery. The Archaeological Museum will be reorganized chronologically, featuring Paleolithic bifaces and a historic wooden ceiling from the 19th century. Additional improvements consist of a garden and a 190-meter neon artwork by Maurizio Nannucci, with 35 Greek manuscripts digitized for online access.
