Pilade Bertieri's Historic Rome Studio Becomes Contemporary Art Space
From May 13 to 15, 2021, Rome will unveil the Atelier project room, situated in the former studio of artist Pilade Bertieri (Turin, 1874 – Rome, 1965), which now serves as his archive. Established by Beatrice Burati Anderson, this venue boasts a historic warehouse adorned with 15th-century beams alongside an opera theater. The opening exhibition, titled "The Food of Love" and curated by Bruno Corà, emphasizes music and showcases antique instruments sourced from Bertieri's studio. Artists featured in the exhibition include Giovanni Rizzoli, Andrew Huston, and Tristano di Robilant. Bertieri, known for his portraits and a pupil of Cesare Tallone, was active in prominent cities and belonged to the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Palma Bucarelli purchased one of his pieces for the Galleria Nazionale di Roma.
