institutional · 2026-04-26

Pietro Rigolo will become Head of Collection and Chief Curator at Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin starting January 1, 2025, under director Sara Cosulich. He returns to Italy after 11 years at the Getty Research Institute (GRI) in Los Angeles, where he served as archivist for Harald Szeemann and later as curator from 2018. At GRI, he contributed to acquiring over 200 works and co-curated exhibitions including "Harald Szeemann: Museum of Obsessions" (2018, also at Castello di Rivoli in 2019) and "Barbara T. Smith: The Way to Be" (2023). His final project at GRI is the upcoming exhibition "$3 Bill: Evidence of Queer Lives." Rigolo has authored books such as "La mamma. Una mostra di Harald Szeemann mai realizzata" (Johan & Levi, 2021) and "Immergersi nel luogo prescelto, Harald Szeemann a Locarno, 1978-2000" (Doppiozero, 2013), and contributed to publications by Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, Castello di Rivoli, Pirelli HangarBicocca, and Istanbul Biennale. He succeeds Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, who after three years at Pinacoteca Agnelli will become director of the Istituto Svizzero. Cosulich expressed gratitude to Calabrò Visconti and welcomed Rigolo, noting his vision will connect contemporary programming with the historical collection. Calabrò Visconti's final co-curated exhibition at Pinacoteca Agnelli is "Salvo. Arrivare in tempo," opening November 1, 2024.
