Pietro Castellitto's 'Enea' Premieres in Venice Competition

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

At 31, actor-director Pietro Castellitto debuts in competition at the Venice Film Festival with his second feature, 'Enea'. His first film, 'I Predatori', won the Orizzonti section in 2020. 'Enea' follows two fraternal friends united against the world, described by Castellitto as 'a gangster movie without the gangster part'. The film explores the desire to feel alive in a dead and decadent era. Produced by Luca Guadagnino's Frenesy and Lorenzo Mieli's The Apartment Pictures (Fremantle group), it will be released in Italian theaters on January 25 by Vision Distribution. Castellitto's father, actor Sergio Castellitto, appears in the film and considers it the end of a trilogy his son began writing over a decade ago.
