Pietro Castellitto Debuts as Director with 'I predatori' at Venice Film Festival

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Pietro Castellitto, son of actors Sergio Castellitto and Margaret Mazzantini, makes his directorial debut with 'I predatori', which he also wrote and stars in. The film premieres in the Orizzonti section of the 77th Venice International Film Festival (September 2–12, 2020). Castellitto, a philosophy graduate and admirer of Nietzsche, has previously acted in films like 'Non ti muovere', 'Venuto al mondo', and 'Freaks Out'. 'I predatori' follows two opposing Roman families—the bourgeois intellectual Pavones and the proletarian fascist Vismaras—whose collision reveals hidden secrets. Castellitto expressed pride in presenting his work during a pandemic-disrupted era, thanking festival director Alberto Barbera. He is also set to play Francesco Totti in an upcoming Sky series. Castellitto's screenwriting talent is endorsed by the Fratelli D'Innocenzo.
