Pierpaolo Ferrari's Mural Transforms Rome's Piazza Venezia Construction Site

On May 12, 2026, the fourth chapter of MURALES was inaugurated in Rome, a project by Pierpaolo Ferrari that turns the city's construction sites into artworks. Titled FUTURO A VISTA, the mural depicts two children peering from an opening in the Piazza Venezia construction site, their faces silhouetted against the sky. The work references Raphael's Sistine Madonna (1512), with the cherubs reimagined in Ferrari's pop-photographic style. Ferrari has long transformed temporary urban surfaces into thresholds rather than barriers, using the construction site—a transitional space—as a support for an image about transformation. The central idea is that looking is an active, generative act, and entrusting this gesture to childhood is both political and aesthetic. The project is part of a broader initiative that includes other artists and designers featured on the same platform, such as Aryz, Crosby Studios, and Francesco Faraci.
