Pierpaolo Curti Opens Spazio 21 in Former Foundry in Lodi

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Artist Pierpaolo Curti (born Lodi, 1972) has opened Spazio 21 in Lodi, Italy, in the former Ex Officine Gai, an industrial archaeology site originally established in 1923 as Industrie metallurgiche lodigiane and later used as a foundry. Curti, who has exhibited in Milan, Venice, Berlin, and São Paulo, returned to his hometown to create a large exhibition space for social aggregation and integrated territorial projects. He is joined by seven friends, including architect Carlo Orsini, who works in Europe, the US, and the Caribbean and is a contemporary art editor and curator of the Amirkhanian collection. The space retains some original tools and objects to evoke a 'furnace' concept. Currently on view until February 23 is Curti's solo show 'La Scatola,' featuring large canvases of surreal landscapes with rationalist architecture, videos, and installations exploring the relationship between humans and environment. Future exhibitions include group shows curated by Michela Rizzo Gallery of Venice (March 14–April 25), Maddalena Mazzocut-Mis (May 18–31), and Davide Di Maggio (September 12–October 17, 2020). The space will also host painting and photography workshops, book presentations, talks on environment, contemporary arts, and music, and collaborations with Teatro Parenti in Milan and the Festival della Fotografia Etica di Lodi. Curti's studio is at the back of the main shed, where he works on ongoing projects.
