Piero Roccasalvo's 'Visioni dell'Assenza' at Ceravento, Pescara

The Ceravento gallery in Pescara, directed by Loris Maccarone, presents 'Visioni dell'Assenza', a solo exhibition by Sicilian painter Piero Roccasalvo (born 1974 in Syracuse). The show features thirty works, nearly all new, created between 2018 and 2024. Roccasalvo's paintings and drawings explore dreamlike and unsettling imagery, evoking Goya's 'caprichos' and the phrase 'The sleep of reason produces monsters'. Figures include owls, non-innocent children, and classical statues, inviting viewers to confront inner demons. The exhibition is conceived as a series of 'Thinking Rooms', a reference to David Lynch. Works range from sophisticated drawings reminiscent of Gino De Dominicis to mixed-media portraits on cardboard. The show is accompanied by a text by Andrea Guastalla and runs until May 11, 2024.
