Piero Portaluppi Archive Donated to FAI at Villa Necchi

After more than 25 years of operation, the Fondazione Piero Portaluppi, which was founded in 1999 to safeguard the architect's heritage, has officially closed its doors. The foundation's entire archive has been transferred to the FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) and will be located at Villa Necchi, which has been redesigned by Piero Castellini Baldissera, Portaluppi's grandson. This archive encompasses drawings, documents, and personal artifacts that illustrate Portaluppi's connections with notable 20th-century personalities like Marinetti and Gio Ponti. Set to open in May 2026, the venue will host exhibitions and programs. FAI president Marco Magnifico emphasized that this donation enhances Milan's cultural legacy, while Letizia Castellini Baldissera, the foundation's president, seeks to highlight Portaluppi's diverse identity. The materials will also be accessible for research in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano.
