Piero Manzoni's Danish Connection: 7200-Meter Line and 43 Works at HEART Museum

exhibition · 2026-04-27

On July 4, 1960, Piero Manzoni produced his 7200-meter Linea at the Herning Avis printing facility in Denmark, with assistance from helpers who unrolled a 202-kilogram roll of paper. This piece, encased in a zinc and lead cylinder, was meant to be the first in a series of lines that would be buried in major urban centers. Currently, the Herning line is showcased at the HEART Museum of Contemporary Art, which boasts 43 of Manzoni's works, the largest collection of the artist, who was born 90 years ago and passed away 60 years ago. The exhibition titled "Manzoni Infinito" features Socle du Monde and Achromes, stemming from Manzoni's ties to gallerist Arthur Køpcke and industrialist Aage Damgaard. The HEART Museum was inaugurated in 2009.
