Piero Gilardi's 'Tappeto-Natura' Series Unites at Magazzino Italian Art
Located in Cold Spring, New York, Magazzino Italian Art is hosting 'Gilardi: Tappeto-Natura,' marking the first exhibition in an American museum to honor Italian artist Piero Gilardi (born 1942, Turin). This showcase, which runs until January 9, 2023, features around sixty works spanning from the 1960s to the present, with an emphasis on his 'Tappeto-Natura' series. Curated by Elena Re and backed by the Italian Embassy, the exhibition includes a donation of approximately twenty works from Gilardi, alongside loans from various institutions. The 'Tappeto-Natura' artworks are carved polyurethane panels illustrating natural landscapes, initially designed for home use in 1965, and also feature polyurethane stones and compositions that embody Gilardi's ecological and political beliefs. Additionally, Magazzino is partnering with Manitoga for 'Formafantasma at Manitoga’s Dragon Rock: Designing Nature.'
