Piero Fogliati's Mechanical Utopia at Tempesta Gallery, Milan
Tempesta Gallery in Milan presents a solo exhibition of Piero Fogliati (Canelli, 1930 – Turin, 2016), an artist-scientist who created mechanical devices to reintroduce natural elements into urban spaces. Fogliati, who described himself as 'a scientist who betrays science,' conceived a 'Fantastic City' where machines would simulate wind, breathing, and light. The show features works such as 'Fleximofono' (a sound sculpture with steel springs that mimic wind), 'Macchina che respira' (a breathing machine), 'Campo autonomo' (a control tower for the Fantastic City), 'Euritmia evoluente' (a suspended ring in motion), 'Rilevatore cromocinetico' (a light projector creating a spectrum), 'Prisma meccanico' (a rotating disc that splits light), and 'Successioni luminose' (a multiplying light effect). The exhibition runs at Tempesta Gallery, Milan.
