Pier Currà Architettura Renovates 1960s Apartment in Forlì with Pop Colors

architecture-design · 2026-05-21

Pier Currà Architettura has completed the renovation of a 1960s apartment in the historic center of Forlì, Italy, for a young creative couple. Named 60s Style House, the project preserves original features like a large window and a timber-slatted ceiling while introducing bold colors, bespoke furniture, and pop visual culture references. A double-height living area centers on a bright orange staircase that doubles as a sculptural bookcase. The kitchen features custom blue cabinetry, a stainless-steel worktop, and optical-inspired floor tiles recalling 1960s and 1970s interiors. A glass-block wall filters light and creates geometric patterns. Bathrooms combine pastel tones, red taps, and cement tiles; the master bedroom has a burgundy wardrobe and white paneling. An upper-floor study overlooks the living room. The design team included arch. Pier Nicola Currà, arch. Nicolas Piazza (project lead and photographer), and arch. Anita Bucci.
