Piedmont's Fortresses Network Expands with New Brand and Events

The Forti Piemonte system, a cultural heritage initiative promoting Piedmont's fortified architecture, has launched a unified brand with a logo and coordinated image. Five fortifications—Exilles, Fenestrelle, Gavi, Vinadio, and the newly added Opera 5 in Moiola—are part of the network. The project culminates on September 21–22 with the second edition of the weekend event Forti Fortissimi!, featuring guided tours, walks, and excursions. New this year is Le Strade dei Forti, a route for walking and cycling through the Pinerolese area, including the Fenestrelle Fort and the Strada dell'Assietta. The initiative is promoted by the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and the Regione Piemonte, coordinated by Fondazione Artea. Matteo Bagnasco, head of Obiettivo Cultura at Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, stated that the second edition consolidates the path toward an integrated and sustainable tourist offering. The fortresses will be linked by a shuttle service from Turin. Notable theater figures Umberto Galimberti and Lella Costa will participate. Opera 5 in Moiola is a cave fortification built in 1940 in Valle Stura, part of a larger defensive system.
