Pieces of Venice: Design Collection from Venetian Lagoon Materials Launches at Triennale Milano

On January 11, 2018, La Triennale di Milano hosted the unveiling of the design collection Pieces of Venice. Designers Luciano Marson, Karin Friebel, and Luca CerchieCREWr showcased a range of items crafted from repurposed materials gathered from Venice and its lagoon. The exhibition featured both the original and redesigned versions of each piece. The collection offers small artifacts for both children and adults, transforming traditional items for future generations. Materials include ship chains, docks, gangways, anchors, and aged briccole (channel markers) from the lagoon. Each piece carries a geographic name, such as Calzascarpe – Castello 3829 by Giulio Iacchetti and Raganella – Sant'Erasmo by Lorenzo Palmeri. Other contributors include Marco Auber, Paolo and Michela Baldessari, and Gianluca Pavan, president of Cooperativa Sociale Futura. The collection's website sells these items, with proceeds dedicated to preserving memories of lost objects.
