Picasso Málaga hosts nocturnal farewell to Elena Asins exhibition
Museo Picasso Málaga will hold a free nocturnal event, Picasso Nocturno, on April 30 from 8:00 to 10:30 PM, targeting audiences aged 18–30. The evening features live music, a DJ, a cocktail, and guided tours of the exhibition Elena Asins. Antígona, which closes on May 3. The event includes collaborations with Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático (ESAD) and Universidad de Málaga (UMA), and begins with a welcome by artistic director Miguel López-Remiro. Attendance requires prior registration via the museum website. The exhibition, part of the Obra Invitada program in partnership with Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, presents two works from Asins' final creative cycle: the sculpture Antígona and the audiovisual piece Hemón. It coincides with the tenth anniversary of her death. Elena Asins (Madrid, 1940 – Azpíroz, Navarra, 2015), a National Prize for Plastic Arts winner in 2011, was a pioneer of computational art in Spain. Her work reinterprets Sophocles' tragedy through geometric abstraction and ethical critique, engaging with the artistic and philosophical tradition that inspired Picasso. The museum will extend hours (10 AM–7 PM, last entry 6:30 PM) during the May holiday bridge, with free admission on Sundays from 5 PM.
