Picasso Lottery: Win a 1921 Still Life for €100

market-auction · 2026-04-27

The Musée Picasso in Paris has launched 1Picasso100euros, an online lottery offering a chance to win a 1921 Picasso still life for €100 per ticket. 200,000 tickets are available. The painting, 'Nature Morte' (Still Life), depicts a glass of absinthe and a newspaper and is valued at €1 million. It is currently on display at the museum. The lottery aims to raise €20 million for CARE, a non-profit that will fund water access projects in Cameroon, Madagascar, and Morocco over five years. The painting is owned by Lebanese billionaire David Nahmad, who will receive €1 million from the proceeds. The drawing was postponed from January 6 to March 30, 2020, to allow more ticket sales. The first edition of the lottery in 2013 supported the preservation of Tyre, an ancient city in Lebanon and UNESCO World Heritage site. Promoter Péri Cochin emphasized that the online lottery makes art accessible to a wider audience, unlike traditional charity auctions limited to the wealthy.
