Piano Piano Studio revives narrow Valencia home with terracotta and burgundy

architecture-design · 2026-03-31

Piano Piano Studio has completed 'El desfile de la Puri,' a residential renovation in Valencia, Spain, that reconfigures a narrow, elongated dwelling through geometry and circulation. The project prioritizes outdoor living by opening the house toward a terrace, using consistent ceramic flooring to visually link interior and exterior. The existing irregular layout, defined by a long corridor lacking right angles, was reorganized into two zones: a compartmentalized night area and an open day area. The corridor was transformed into an active spatial element with storage niches, natural light openings, and access points. Burgundy accents in furniture guide movement from entrance to living area. Hand-painted murals by Gisela Talita complement forest green tiles and terracotta textures. Wood and green-toned ceramics balance the palette. The flooring pattern acts as a compositional device extending like a carpet. Photos by Milena Villalba.
